Road transport and the environment

Transport has developed dramatically over the past two centuries. Before the 19th century, people and things were transported only using horses and other animals. During the 19th century, electric, steam and petrol engines were successfully used to move vehicles.

How we get ourselves from one place to another has an impact on our environment and the people, plants and animals that live in it.
