Wheels

The one thing that all road vehicles have in common is they have wheels. Count how many wheels there are in these pictures.

Each of these vehicles is made up of different parts. There is the main 'body' that carries people and goods. The frame that the body sits on is called the ‘chassis’. Two long shafts called 'axles' run through the chassis and connect each pair of metal wheels. On each wheel is a rubber tyre.

See if you can find and name the following parts on these vehicles:

  • The body
  • The axles
  • The wheels
  • The tyres
