A living history
Being able to make history more personal helps us to better connect with the past and to have an empathy with a time within or even beyond living memory. The popularity of family history illustrates how Society is fascinated by people from the past.
Many of the photographs in the Nick Baldwin Collection show us a glimpse of life from times past and will no doubt trigger personal memories and experiences. You can find out what the Collection contains by looking in The Catalogue on this Website.
We are keen to hear your stories about road transport and you can contribute them at the 'Stories' section of this Website. Your story may be added to this Website and become part of an oral history bank generated by visitors to the Nick Baldwin Collection Website and exhibitions.
You might like to use these Web pages to start a reminiscence session with a group you belong to or start your own oral history group. The local studies library or archive in your area can help you search for information on local transport companies or, if you have family links to public or road transport, you could get advice from the National Archives Website on how to find out more about them.
If you are interested in road transport, you could look at the Websites of other 'transport museums'.
You could also join a vehicle enthusiasts club. Links to these are listed on the Website of the 'Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs'
