Seat design in the past

Seating took the form of wooden benches in the earliest road vehicles. In horse-drawn buses and carts these were very hard but for travellers who could afford to use a carriage, coach or cab the benches were often upholstered in leather or cloth. In the last 50 years, vehicle seats have gained springs, adjustments, and support for particular parts of the body.
