LRCC Motor Drivers Register Vol 1 1900-1909

This fascinating volume is an alphabetical index of London Road Car Company bus drivers giving their names, addresses, and details of their involvement with the company.

It records when drivers were first appointed to drive horse buses, when they joined and left the company, and remarks regarding their licences and reasons for leaving.

London Road Car Company was formed in 1881 operating horse buses and later motor buses in the metropolitan area. It pioneered the use of 'garden seats' in rows on upper bus decks and the use of the bell punch ticketing system. The company later became part of the London General Omnibus Company.
